Vega 64 - 54MH/s with less than 130w

Hi,
I’m just here to share some info and hoping people to find even better way to get those results.

I flashed my vega 64 with a vega 56 bios of the same model:

i’ve used this tutorial but I think Hiveos flashing tool should be enough.

used the strap
–CL 20 --RAS 26 --RCDRD 12 --RCDWR 12 --RC 38 --RP 12 --RRDS 3 --RRDL 5 --RTP 6 --FAW 12 --CWL 8 --WTRS 4 --WTRL 9 --WR 13 --REF 24000 --RFC 239

Core: 1110
VDD: 840
MEM: 1028

I’m using team red miner 0.7.16c

If people find better straps or OC configuration i’m interested

This whole thread is about vega not rx 5700 xt.
you can use the straps using amdmemtweak but again that’s only for vega

The vega ,amdmemtweak What is the format
Can you show me
thinks

amdmemtweak -CL 20 -RAS 26 -RCDRD 12 -RCDWR 12 -RC 38 -RP 12 -RRDS 3 -RRDL 5 -RTP 6 -FAW 12 -CWL 8 -WTRS 4 -WTRL 9 -WR 13 -REF 24000- RFC 239

Is that so?
But I’m so tried, as if not

amdmemtweak --CL 20 --RAS 26 --RCDRD 12 --RCDWR 12 --RC 38 --RP 12 --RRDS 3 --RRDL 5 --RTP 6 --FAW 12 --CWL 8 --WTRS 4 --WTRL 9 --WR 13 --REF 24000 --RFC 239

but that won’t change anything on your 5700 xt

i’m using the beta image

I envy you. I have been fighting with my vega 64 for a month to get them up from 39… i touched 47 once, then unstable. So to get them stable i had to go down to 38… worse than when i started. And still not stable…

Do you have to run bootstraps manually after each reboot?

I have not flashed to 56… because i have so much other issues i dont dare =(
Any other suggestions for me to get my vegas working?

change the kernel to the beta one.
you can set the command to your xinit.user file and turn on GUI so it run at startup.

Hi. Thank you for quality info. Can I ask why have you flashed vega 64 with vega 56 bios? Is it for better overclock? I have vega 64 and overclocked and changed timings I cannot get stable over 47mh/s. Will flashing with vega 56 bios help?

It just consume less and goes higher in hash rate. Doesn’t make it easier to overclock. You should be able to get 51H/s stable on Vega 64 not flashed

So your saying if i already have a Vega 56 I should be able to get 54MH? I flashed all my 56 cards to 64 and ran a strap someone else applied and using these OC settings

1000
900/850
1100

only getting 49mh

No I’m not saying that. Vega 56 can’t reach those performance. I’m talking about 64 flashed to make the system think they are 56 not the opposite.

how do you change the mem tweak for only the vega 64s i forgot how.

—i Index of card

amdmemtweak --i 0?

Thanks for the tidbit about setting the amdmemtweak settings in the xinit.user file, I was bashing my head against the wall trying to use .profile and the rc.local (neither worked).

What Kernel are you on? AND how would you change to the beta one? I am on: Kernel
5.0.21-201105-hiveos

Thanks again!

I actually found (with minimal testing, so take it with a grain of salt) that flashing my Vega64 with the Vega56 actually made my rig more stable AND faster. I was having issues with my Vega64 dropping to single digit 4-8 MHashrate (as in your example). Flashing to 56 has it running more stable in the 50s using the straps above using 1110 840/0/0 1025 in the Hive Overclock.

Just FYI - if you are fighting with your 64s I would recommend trying to flash to the 56.

That is the whole point of this thread
