Palit 5060 Ti MalFunction

I recently bought my GPU, and it normally works fine. However, on HiveOS, I’m getting a ‘malfunction’ warning. My CPU is 2 × Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU G550 @ 2.60GHz, with 4 GB of RAM. The Nvidia driver version is 550.120.

5060ti added to old rig

That driver came out in April, which is older than the 5060ti. Nvidia releases drivers that are compatible with the gpus the same day they launch, so your driver needs to be no older than the gpu itself. If you go to nvidias driver search page you can enter in your gpu type, and linux 64 bit and it will tell you which driver number to use, Then in hive put that driver number after the update command, nvidia-driver-update 570.172.08 [IMG_0982]

I installed the version you mentioned, but it still didn’t work. However, it works when I replace the 5060 Ti with a different graphics card

Try installing again, make sure it says driver install successful before rebooting.

I found the problem. The riser slot on my motherboard doesn’t support the 5060 Ti. But when I plug in a different GPU, it works. It also works when I plug the 5060 Ti directly into the motherboard’s main PCIe slot
