I just got my self a new GIGABYTE Radeon RX 9070 XT GAMING OC 16G Graphics Card how can I make it work in hiveos it keeps saying unknown id / card I try both beta and stable hiveos and nothing seems to work
that gpu requires newer than included ROCm (6.3+), which requires newer than included kernel (6.13+) as well. it is possible to manually update the kernel and ROCm drivers from source, but not something we can give support on.
here is what im running on my 9070 test bench:
rocm: 6.3.42134-a9a80e791
kernel: 6.14.0-rc5+
you can use chatgpt/grok to walk you through installing these or newer, follow guides for ubuntu (hive is based on this)
keep in mind, the 9070xt is really not great at mining compared to other gpus that are much cheaper, its ok on kawpow and janushash. you also have very limited OC control.
Why isn’t it performing well? Is it just due to high power consumption, or is there another issue?
can’t we just limit the the power use or just hook up a solar system
im new to all of this I just like to take down a few notes on how I should really run it
really bad at memory based algos like etc/ergo. equivalent to around a 5600xt there.
a 5070 is cheaper and will beat the 9070 xt in almost everything, some things by 2-5x. plus has more miner support
any news about a new build from Hiveos that supports 9070 XT
i had same issues
not released yet, ill let you know if i hear any updates
if so please give us the method to update rocm 6.3 on last stable version
i tried a lot and with errors
i dont have any instructions premade, though chatgpt or grok both should be able to help you.
when i have time ill start with a fresh image and record whats needed to install for you though.
try it with erroes
Just keep going back and forth with gpt and let it know the errors
unable to update ROCM 6.3 on latest stable image [email protected]
could you please help with instructions
