Be adviced to update Hive ASIC client to the latest version (at least v0.1-13) before installation Hiveon ASIC S9 firmware v1.02

Important differences between Signed and Unsigned firmware

Hiveon ASIC S9 firmware v1.02 exists in two versions — signed and unsigned. Please choose the one you need, carefully:

Signed version (“sign”)

Maximum virus protection. It is not possible to change the firmware to any third-party one via the ASIC web interface. Changing firmware is only possible through the Hive OS web interface.

Unsigned version (“nosign”)

It is possible to change firmware via the web interface without the participation of Hive. But if the password for the web interface is standard or simple, then the password-picking viruses can infect your device, sooner or later. You need to be sure that there are no infected devices on the network.

Major changes:

  • Changed autotune algorithm - up to 80-100W power efficiency compared to the previous version
  • Full protection from all known viruses (firmware with a signature**, closed SSH, fixed all known vulnerabilities, new web-server)
  • Improved ASIC web interface

ASIC web interface improvements:

  • Emergency profile: auto changing profile in case of overheating
  • Saving profile in configuration, fast switching
  • Status Miner page improved : integrated “Security” page, voltage, ASIC search by LED, restart, reboot
  • Chips tuning page: added changing boards voltage
  • Changing profiles Schedule
  • Changed Generate AutoConfig feature

New functionality Hiveon ASIC S9 firmware v1.02 in Hive web interface will be added in the near future.

:question: Are there any problems with reverse firmware?

There is no problem with reverse firmware, but the most suitable version for this case is the firmware version without a signature (“nosign”).
Version with signature (“sign”) - it will also could be flashed upon with any other firmware, but first, through the Hive web interface, it will be necessary to send a command to the ASIC to disable signature verification. No programmers are needed. Also, through the SD card or the “IP report” button, you can flash from signed version to any.

:question: After the firmware I can’t get into the ASIC interface, what should I do?

The default password is changed to be more secure. Instead of a familiar pair root:root please use login “root” and password “root@”.

:question: An error occurs during installation “tar: short read”

When downloading firmware via some browsers (for example Opera for Windows or Safari on Apple) you may encounter an error “tar: short read”. In this case, we recommend using a different browser, such as Google Chrome.
Also, this situation may occur if there is no space on the ASIC, for example due to the large number of log files, in which case we recommend to reboot the ASIC and try again.

Перед установкой прошивки Hiveon ASIC S9 v1.02 обновите клиент Hive ASIC как минимум до версии v0.1-13

Подписанные и неподписанные прошивки
Прошивка v1.02 существует в двух вариантах - подписанная (signed) и неподписанная (unsigned).

Версия с подписью (sign)
Максимальная защита от вирусов. Не возможно сменить прошивку на сторонние через веб интерфейс асика. Смена возможно только через веб интерфейс Hive OS.

Версия с подписью (nosign)
Возможна смена прошивок через веб интерфейс без участия Hive. Но если пароль на веб интерфейс стандартный или простой, то вирусы подобрав пароль, смогут заразить ваше устройство. Вам необходимо быть уверенным, что в сети нету зараженных устройств.

Главные изменения

  • Изменен алгоритм автонастройки - улучшилась до 80-100 Вт энергоэффективность по сравнению с предыдущей версией
  • Полная защита от всех известных вирусов (прошивка с подписью**, закрытый SSH, исправлены все известные уязвимости, новый веб-сервер)

:bulb: Часто задаваемые вопросы

:question: Есть ли проблемы с обратной прошивкой?

С обратной прошивкой проблем нет, но наиболее для этого случая подойдет версия прошивки без подписи nosign
Версия с подписью sign - тоже прошьется на что угодно, но предварительно через веб интерфейс Hive надо будет отправить команду на ASIC для отключения проверки подписи. Никаких программаторов не нужно. Так же через SD карту или кнопку “IP report” можно прошить с подписанной на любую.

:question: После прошивки не могу попасть в интерфейс ASIC, что делать?

Стандартный пароль для большей безопасости изменен. Вместо пары root:root используйте root:root@

:question: При установке возникает ошибка “tar: short read”

При скачивании прошивки через некоторые браузеры (например Opera на Windows или Safari на Apple) можете столкнуться с ошибкой “tar: short read”. В таком случае рекомендуем воспользоваться другим браузером, например Google Chrome.
Также данная ситуация может возникнуть в случае отсутствия места на ASIC, например из-за большого числа лог-файлов, в таком случае рекомендуем перезагрузить ASIC и повторить попытку.

Currently working on S17 firmware mybe later will add for S9k

S9k supported as Hive ASIC client. There is no supports for Hiveon ASIC firmware yet.

Yes it’s supported for monitoring by Hive ASIC client and possible will be added firmware for this model too.
But currently many people wants firmware for top models: S17/S17pro/T17. So we must finish work on Hiveon firmware for S17* first to to satisfy their expectations.
