1070 hashrate lowered?

I’ve finally managed to boot up my 11gpu rig after a couple years stoped. Now I’m perceiving a huge difference in hashrate of my 1070 compared to a couple years ago.

Each 1070 is producing now something about 28mh/s when it produced 32mh/s back then. Did something happened?

I also had to change claymore to phoenixminer cause hive is saying claymore is obsolete. Maybe the difference is due this change on miner?

any clues are welcome… thanks a lot.

First, I’m going to assume that they are 8GB cards. Due to the nature of graphics cards, they can have decreased hashrates over time.

It’s possible that the difference is due to the miner, Claymore is obsolete because the developer stopped working on the program and didn’t work after the dag size grew to ~4GBs, which is why 4GB cards are no longer hashing at their old rates. I recommend switching to T-Rex miner as it is the most optimized for nvidia cards.

You might have to adjust your overclocks / undervolts for optimal settings as well.

I forgot to mention my rig have 8xRX580 and 3x1070, all of them 8gb. That’s why I’ve been using PhoenixMiner.

Is it possible to run two miners, one just for eth and other just for the nvidia?

Yup. You can set it up with flightsheets.

When you go to edit your fligjtsheet, click Add miner and put in the coin, miner, etc. I recommend TRM for AMD, especially after the 0.8.0 update which gave an additional boost with B mode. You can check out TRMs guide for more instructions (https://github.com/todxx/teamredminer/blob/0.8.0/doc/ETHASH_TUNING_GUIDE.txt)

Getting problems connecting to nanopool, really dunno why… Pool eth-us-west1.nanopool.org connection was closed by the pool.

Pascal series (GTX 10xx) has some hardware limitation so reducing hashrate for this GPUs is natural.
The theoretical hashrate with a DAG close to 8 GB will be equal to 20MH/s. Now it is a little over 29MH/s with a DAG size of just under 4.1GB
The mining program has absolutely nothing to do with it.

couple possible issues that would be cause this.

  1. Make sure you are using the non SSL version of the pool
  2. you might have to allow the ip / port through your routers firewall
  3. if you’re using WiFi, I recommend switching to a direct line connection if available
